Obituary of Rosalind Barnes

Rosalind Mae Barnes, 94, died on Dec 13, 2021, at her home in Peoria, AZ. Her nurturing nature led her to a productive and fulfilling life as a homemaker, educator and many other endeavors in serving others. She was born February 20, 1927, to Gird Pulver Logsdon and Marceline Hazel McKay in Lincoln, Nebraska. She married her high-school sweetheart, William Earl Barnes, on June 20, 1947, in Red Oak, Iowa, and they enjoyed a rich and rewarding life together for over 50 years. The family moved all over the U.S. with the Air Force, finally ending up in Arizona. She was a member of Christ the King Episcopal Church in Tucson, AZ, a director of the Tri-Lakes Chamber of Commerce in Monument, CO, and for many years served as Religious Education Director for various churches, including at Offutt Air Force Base in Omaha, NE, and F.E. Warren AFB in Cheyenne, WY. Rosalind loved her family more than anything and was always quick to share hugs, Christmas cookies, tea parties with the grandkids, reading children’s stories, fabulous holiday dinners and always “joyous family living.” She had a joy for life and always saw the positive side of any situation and the good in everyone. She will be sincerely missed and leaves a huge hole in the hearts of all who loved her. She is survived by two of her children: Stephen Ralph Barnes (Susan) of Peoria, AZ, and Jennifer Jeanne McDonald (Dean) also of Peoria, one granddaughter, Kelly Melissa Bills (Rick) of Peoria and three great-grandchildren, Ricky, Riley and Keagan. She is preceded in death by her husband, William Barnes; her brother, Wray Allen Stout (Joanne); a son, Michael Wray Barnes; a grandson, Scott William Barnes and her second husband, Roy Coulson. A memorial service will be planned at The Forum Senior Living Community in Peoria after the first of the year. Burial of ashes next to her husband will be in the summer at St. Mattias Cemetery in Monument, Colorado.
