He also spent several years in restaurant management, but then landed a job with KZGL radio as a sales executive. Due to his distinctive radio voice, he worked as a weekend DJ and was aptly named “Dewey, the Weather God” because of his love and ability to predict the weather on the air. He later returned to his passion in emergency services and became a certified emergency paramedic and firefighter in the 1990s. He started volunteering for Pinewood Fire Department in Munds Park, AZ and later became a captain. He also worked for Guardian Medical Transport in Flagstaff, AZ, and American Medical Response in Vancouver, WA. In addition to his fascination with the weather, his hobbies included music, fishing, traveling, and exploring new places.
